Banner War

September 19, 2014 to September 21, 2014

Snohomish County, WA

Autocrat: Genevieve De Bretagne

Notes of some unrest between the houses of Aquaterra and her surrounding areas has been rumored. So, before discordant words become villainous deeds; I invite all houses to the Masonic Park on the weekend of September 19th. Gather your house, bring your banner and we will see you in September!

All household must declare themselves at Opening Court with a donation to the war chest. Also, it is expected that each house has a banner or some way to distinguish itself.

House Steward and Activities That Support the Running of a Household

The Interdisciplinary House Challenge will incorporate all four tracks. After Opening Court, a representative of the event steward will visit each house’s encampment and present the details of the challenge. Until then, delve into the embodiment of what make your household unique so that it may be presented when called upon.

House Attaché and Activities That Support the Ambassadorship of a Household

Largess Contest

Show your house’s diverse talents and generosity but submitting three items of crafters choice. Two may be the same; one must be different than the rest. One War Point is at stake.

Banner War Siege Cooking Contest

In keeping with the theme for this year’s Banner War; I challenge each household to supply a period potluck contribution to be served at the Inn on Saturday night. The wining dish will be worth one War Point.

The rules:

-Bring a period food dish, serving at least 10 folks. (More than one dish will be welcome, but only one dish per household will be judged.)

- Provide a complete ingredient list.

-Bring your own cooking/heating/serving equipment. For example; a crockpot of soup or stew.   There is limited cooking/refrigeration space available, please check with the Inn Host.

-Clean up and remove your stuff as soon as the food serving is finished.

The more authentic and period the dish, the higher the score. Documentation can be as simple as a copy of the original period recipe. Your redaction (interpretation) of the recipe a bonus. No New World ingredients, unless you can document their use within the SCA period.

If you have any questions, I am available for consultation on ideas and sources for period recipe. Please contact me at

Happy Cooking!
