Kingdom Webminister office open

Monday, May 19th, 2014

Greetings Fellow An Tirans!

It is time for me to hand over this office to a new Kingdom Webminister. Please send your resume and why you would like to have the office to webminister@antir.sca.org.

I want to echo what Krenn first posted in 2010 about the job:

It is in actuality three jobs:

  • Kingdom Webminister: account creator, wiki manager, paper pusher, meeting maker, hand holder, account manager, mediator, duties as assigned
  • Content Developer: just what it says, updates kingdom pages, updates Royals pages, etc., duties as assigned and
  • System Administrator: God

JL added one more:

  • A Designer: makes it all pretty and flow logically

I added a few more:

  • DBA: manages the databases
  • Document Manager: manages all the forms on the server for all the offices (this person is shared with other officers :D )

This office reports to the Society Webminister. The officers that report to the Kingdom office are the Kingdom’s Principalities and Branches not in the Principalities.

From the Webminister Handbook:

Qualifications

The ideal Kingdom Webminister has HTML experience, a complete web development lab in the home, and experience dealing with Internet Service Providers / hosting companies. None of us is perfect, but there are some minimum requirements:

To my team:

You all know who you are, you did me proud in your jobs. :)

You as a team are the greatest group of people in the world. Collectively we are able to handle all these jobs.

I am a designer at heart, I have many designs in my head swimming around screaming to get out but I found myself distracted over and over with the greater tasks of the office. It could just be that it is due to the way I work and handle things and the job will be way easier for one of you to do so please do not be put off by it.

I know that there would have been no way that I could have even survived this long if I had not had this team that Krenn put together and then I added a few more. You all are angels in disguise, I know you are! :)

I love you guys, I really do. :)

Social Media Policy announcement

Saturday, January 26th, 2013

Today, January 26, 2013, the Board of Directors met in the Kingdom of Atenveldt, a vote was taken on a policy that several of us in this Kingdom sent input to. It was a success! :)

Re-posting from the Society FB page:

————————————————————————–

https://www.facebook.com/currentmiddleages

Greetings all from Lord Tobias Morgan, Deputy Society Seneschal for Social Media. As you may have heard, the new Social Media Policy was approved at today’s Board meeting. We will be publishing it online this week and I will personally be in contact with the Kingdom Seneschals and Webministers to directly distribute a copy, along with recommendations for implementation and where to go from here for them and their branch officers. I will post a subsequent notice when it is available for public download (please hold off on personal requests for the SMP, and if you’re a branch officer, give your kingdom time to get it sent down to you).

Later this week, once the policy has been out for a few days and people have time to digest it, I will host a Q&A session for people to ask questions and get advice on how to use social media for their branches and events.

More than anything else, the message I want to put out about SCA Social Media is this: we WANT you to use it, but we want you to use it responsibly. The policy gives you the tools to do that. If you have any questions (besides hey social dude, gimme my copy now!), feel free to contact me at socialmedia@sca.org, message me here on Facebook, or tweet me @SCAsocial.

Thank you to everyone who provided work, commentary, and editing on the policy over the past year.

Lord Tobias Morgan
Deputy Society Seneschal for Social Media
Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA)

Message of Thanks

Saturday, November 24th, 2012

Greetings unto great Web minds of our great Kingdom!

The weekend is here and we have all hopefully had a bit of a good food, good friends and family over, fun, and cheer. Some of us are detangling last year’s mess of strings of lights (me), unpacking the yule décor of all kinds, and some of us are trying to convince our kiddos that they need to do some decorating. :)

I wanted to drop a line and simply thank all of you for the great work you have been doing throughout the year. Thank you for being here. Thank you for taking care of your jobs. Thank you for sending in your reports. Thank you for saying hi at events. Thank you for being the geeks you are. I have only thanks to give for there are so many of you that it would literally kill me to make that many pairs of gloves. :D

I do make this offer, that if you see me at an event please come and introduce yourselves and if either you or I has a bit of felt with us I will help you make one mitten. (The pattern is based off of a period example that I used to make for a children’s class.) You can take it home and make your pattern off it and make a pair for yourself.

I will carry a pattern with me at all times just for you guys cause you all rule!! :)

Molte grazie a tutti i miei amici,
Baronessa Chiara Francesca Arianna d’Onofrio
An Tir Kingdom Webminister

P.S. I will let you all know once I get confirmation. I am hoping to have a meeting of the great Web minds of our great Kingdom at the next Coronation. :D
